KC Beer Fest - Sept 27

KC Beer Fest is tomorrow! It kind of snuck up on me with all the Oktoberfest events going on right now. The fest, hosted by Flying Saucer, is down at Power & Light. The tickets are sold out for the 2p-3p VIP tasting, but there are still tickets available for the 3p-5p GA tasting. Tickets are $35 online, and $40 if you buy them at the door tomorrow. They've got their full brewery lineup listed on their website as well.

Cider Pressing Day @ Grain to Glass - Sept 28

Grain to Glass is hosting a free cider making demonstration in the parking lot of their North Kansas City shop this Sunday at 10a. They've got special cider apples in from the Of the Earth Farm Distillery and a full set of equipment to chop and press the apples. They'll have chili available for lunch as well.

75th Street Homebrew Competition

75th Street Brewery is continuing the tradition of their homebrew wort challenge. They will be giving out unfermented wort to the first 50 homebrewers to sign up. The homebrewers will get to do whatever they want with the wort, ferment it, and submit it for judging. The winner will get to scale up their brew on 75th Street's system and have it on tap at the brewpub.

To sign up, you have to register online. The registration starts at 10a on October 1. It only took 2 minutes to fill all 50 spots last year, so make sure you get in on it right at 10a if you want a chance to enter! There are full competition details on their website.

Goose Island Migration @ Bier Station - October 1

I looks like the folks at Bier Station are up to their old tricks again. Next Wednesday, October 1 at 5pm, they're putting on another amazing rare beer event. Nearly all of the specialty Goose Island beers (i.e., the ones not brewed by A-B) will be flocking into as part of their (hopefully!) yearly migration. In addition to the amazing beers available, there will be glassware and t-shirt giveaways. Beers included in the flock are:

On Tap:
Bourbon County Backyard Rye
Bourbon County Stout
2012 Bourbon County Coffee Stout
Gillian Sour/Wild Ale
Juliet Sour/Wild Ale
Devon Ave. Spiced Pale Ale (first tapping outside of Chicago)
Sofie Farmhouse Ale
Matilda Belgian Strong Pale Ale
Rambler Seasonal IPA

In Bottles (limited supply)
2012 Bourbon County Cherry Rye
2012 Bourbon County Coffee

Apparently Kansas City is an excellent migratory beer habitat.
