Cinder Block Distribution Launch Week

Cinder Block in North KC is beginning their distribution around KC this week and are kicking off the occasion with a series of events. The Pitch has a good article about their roll out to taps around town. Torn Label Moves into Kansas

In another exciting local beer distribution move, Torn Label has told us of their plans to expand into Kansas. They're signed on with a contract with Standard Beverage, and plan on moving into the Johnson and Wyandotte counties as early as next week. They're going to be hosting a number of events in the areas, but have yet to nail down specifics on them.

Standard Beverage also has statewide distribution, so many other counties will no doubt be following up shortly after their roll out in JoCo and WyCo. Rafi specifically mentioned Lawrence, Manhattan, Wichita and Topeka as potential first steps outside the Metro.

About the Kansas side of the state line, Rafi Chaudry says, "Our brewmaster/co-owner Travis grew up in Olathe, and I grew up in Overland Park. The first place we met was at a coffeehouse on 135th and Quivera, so on a personal level it’s deeply meaningful for us to launch in Johnson and Wyandotte Counties. Those are the bars and restaurants where we cut our teeth discovering craft beer, and those are where the true origins of Torn Label lie, even if we didn’t know it at the time."

I'm looking forward to them converting a few more folks over to the craft beer dark side with their excellent local brews!

In the meantime, Torn Label has also been added to the roster at the KS Craft Brew Expo this weekend in Lawrence. So if you're planning on going out for that, make sure you stop by the Torn Label table for a taste of what's next for KS!

The Calling IPA Bottle Release

The newest year round Smokestack beer from Boulevard is out on store shelves starting today in little smokies 4-packs. Many of you have probably already gotten a taste of it on tap, since it went on draft a couple of weeks ago. I haven't gotten a chance to try the beer yet, but I've heard only good things about it. It sounds like the initial supply of bottles is relatively limited, but since this is going to be a year round beer, there should be another shipment of bottles showing up before long if you don't managed to find a pack this week.

Local Pig Westport - Santa Fe Brewery Dinner Tonight

Santa Fe Brewing Co is hosting a beer dinner tonight at Local Pig Westport/Preservation Market. It's all meat all night long, including beef hearts paired with Santa Fe's new Black IPA. That is maybe the best food/beer pairing I've ever heard of... There's a few spots left still, and it sounds like a pretty solid deal at $50 for everything, gratuity included. Considering Call 816.531.2337 to make reservations.
