Short Pours 10/24/13 - Smokestack Releases, Founders in KC, Goose Island Sours

Boulevard 2014 Smokestack Lineup Announced

The Boulevard news just won't stop coming. This week they announced the lineup and rough schedule of next year's Smokestack releases. On the list are Rye-on-Rye, Chocolate Ale, Grainstorm, Love Child No. 4, Saison-Brett, Two Jokers Double Wit, Collaboration No. 4, Bourbon Barrel Quad, Harvest Dance Wheat Wine, and Imperial Stout.

With Chocolate Ale and Two Jokers on the list, there are sure to be a lot of excited folks. I hear that there are already moms are already camped out in front of Gomers for the Chocolate Ale release - I pray for their souls they don't get an infected bottle like last time.

And whoever played the long game with the Two Jokers novelty twitter account has officially seen it payoff - color me impressed.
Founders Coming to Kansas City, Kansas

No longer will there be the need to cross state lines to pick up a Centennial IPA or Breakfast Stout as Founders is coming to the Greater Kansas City Metro with their distribution being done by Central States. You'll begin to see their beers on shelves and on tap the week of December 2nd. They're also breaking into new markets in Lincoln, NE and Omaha, NE.

Will this mean a better allocation of KBS come next year? Most likely. Will that mean I will actually be able to buy some with having to follow a truck around town? Probably not.

Goose Island Barrel Aged Sours

For the unfamiliar, Lolita and Juliet are two beers released annually by Goose Island. Juliet is a wine barrel aged beer fermented with wild Brettanomyces and 9,000 pounds of blackberries and it's sister Lolita is similar with 30,000 pounds of raspberries in place of the blackberries. New this year are two new sour ales - Halia, made with peaches and Gillian, made with strawberries, honey, and white pepper.

Look for all these beers to be hitting shelves over the next few months. If we see any, we'll be sure to let you know.
