Kansas to receive Enjoy By 09.13.13

Right on the heels of Stone Brewing Company's Kansas launch, the brewery is including the state in their next release of Enjoy By IPA, Enjoy By 09.13.13. I'll explain the routine again for those who may have missed it the first few times when Enjoy By came to Missouri. If you dig Enjoy By and want to see more of it come to Kansas, make sure to tweet #EnjoyBy #KS. The results are tallied on the official Enjoy By website, where groups of states are pitted against one another. Look for Enjoy By 09.13.13 to hit shelves between 8/12 and 8/14, depending on what area you are in.

The Foundry celebrates 5 years

Earning honors such as being named one of Draft Magazine's 100 best beer bars and hosting Zwanze Day in 2012, the Foundry at McCoy's has certainly made a name for itself in its mere 5 years of being open. Next week, the Westport bar will be celebrating its anniversary with a couple of events. First, on Thursday, August 15th, they'll be hosting a Saison Showdown, where they will tap 4 Hands Pyrus, Anchor Zymaster Series Fort Ross Farmhouse Ale, Boulevard Saison-Brett, Great Divide Colette, and Odell Celestrina. Then on Sunday, August 18th, they are hosting a Back to School ice cream social, with beer ice creams being served up as well as beer floats, including:

Ice cream:
Boulevard Harvest Dance w/ toasted coconut and candied pineapple
St. Louis Peche sour peach sorbet
Bell's Kalamazoo Stout w/ Roasterie coffee & dark chocolate
Stiegl Weiss w/ banana & savory clove bubble gum
McCoy's Farmhouse w/ lemongrass and orange

Floats:
St. Louis Framboise w/ cheesecake ice cream
McCoy's Stout w/ white chocolate ice cream

Schlafly Beer Dinner at Urban Table

If you're looking for something delicious to do next Monday, August 12th, Prairie Village's Urban Table might be the place to go. They are joining forces with Schlafly to present a five-course beer dinner featuring Schlafly's Biere de Garde, Dry-Hopped APA, Quadrupel and Oatmeal Stout, plus an opening course that will feature beer cocktails using Schlafly beers. Tickets are $45, you can see full menu details and reservation information on the Facebook event page.

Green Room Berliner Dunkelhop coming

The brewing blog written by Michael Ptacek of Green Room Burgers and Beer is increasingly becoming a favorite of mine, and he recently has been outlining the process of brewing his next creation to be tapped, Berliner Dunkelhop. Essentially a hoppier Berliner Weiss, he details the processes he used to create the beer, including mash-hopping, souring with lacto, and priming with a fresh-squeezed lemonade solution. Basically, he made me really, really thirsty. Head over to his blog, 1 Barrel Brews, to read up on the beer, and look for it to be available soon at Green Room.

The Star talks microbreweries

Though it doesn't reveal anything that we didn't already read in The Pitch article from a week and a half ago, today the Kansas City Star published a story detailing the rise of craft breweries in Kansas City that we are seeing. This one is worth checking out if only for the derpy comments about the photo of Bucky tasting wort with his finger.

KC Beer Blog in Craft Beer Magazine

The July issue of Craft Beer Magazine, a magazine app for iPhone, iPod and iPad users, features a 'reprint' of our Can You Randall the Vibe article about Randalling. Very cool to see that get picked up, and thanks to Craft Beer Magazine and Fredrik Aurdal for including us!
