KC Beer Fest is back

I teased at the news earlier this week, but now it's time for the full blown announcement regarding the return of KC Beer Fest. The festival, which was put on hiatus last year and had its brand and ownership put up for sale, was recently purchased and the event will return this Fall. The lucky winner of the KC Beer Fest name? Drumroll please...

Flying Saucer!

Yep, Flying Saucer Kansas City now has ownership of the KC Beer Fest, and will be holding the festival on September 28th, downtown in the KC Live! block of the Power and Light District. More information from the press release:

The festival begins at 3 p.m. and will feature over sixty, quality hand-crafted beers procured from local breweries and others around the world, plus rare keg tappings throughout the event, live music and great food, including gourmet pretzels and brats.

General admission tickets are just $30 in advance (or $35 day-of event). Additionally, a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $50 and include exclusive access to breweries one hour prior to event start time, private restrooms and an early food buffet inside of Maker’s Mark Bourbon House & Lounge.

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Kansas City Care Clinic and the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City, original founders of KC Beer Fest.

Tickets will go on sale Monday, August 19th, and you can purchase by visiting www.kc-beerfest.com.

I'm very excited to have this festival come back, and given some of the excellent and rare beers we see tapped at the Flying Saucer, I'm sure the selection at 2013 KC Beer Fest will be an impressive one (and fingers crossed, the festival will be sans Shock Top Volkswagen). $30 is a pretty reasonable price, and the KC Live! area has the potential to be a great venue for a festival with the rooftop, seating areas, etc. Looking forward to seeing how this pans out!
