Black Butte Anniversary Verticals at Saucer

I neglected to make a note about this event in yesterday's Short Pours post, but wanted to be sure to spread the word, because it will make a lot of beer drinkers happy. Since Deschutes began distributing in town, Kansas Citians have looked forward to their anniversary versions of Black Butte Porter, imperialized versions of their year-round core beer that always have an extra twist to them.

Bottles of their most recent version, Black Butte XV, have come and gone in a number of liquor stores, but tomorrow night, Flying Saucer is tapping it. But they're also upping the ante and tapping the previous two versions, so a limited number of drinkers will be able to have a vertical of Black Butte XXIII, XXIV and XXV. And to top it all off, you can take home an awesome Deschutes Teku goblet.

Here are the details: if you're interested in a vertical, the Saucer will begin a ticket presale at 6pm. $18 will get you a Teku goblet filled with XXIII, as well as 5 ounce pours of XXIV and XXV. Only 140 tickets are available, and these 140 people are the only ones who will be able to get XXIII and the Teku Goblet. Then, at 7pm, they will release a limited amount of XXIV and XXV that can be purchased as individual pours.

This is a rare opportunity to try these three beers side by side, so plan on heading down to Saucer by 6 to land your ticket for a vertical and goblet.

Here's a little more detailed information about each beer:

Black Butte XXIII | Alc. 11% | IBUs 55
Brewed with Seville orange zest, chocolate nibs and Pasilla Negra chilies.

Black Butte XXIV | Alc. 10.8% | IBUs 60
Brewed with dark chocolate nibs, Deglet dates and Mission figs.

Black Butte XXV | Alc. 11.3% | IBUs 64
Brewed with dates, figs, chocolate, black currants and aged in bourbon casks.
