Perennial Homefront IPA Assists Veterans

Thursday night a new beer is coming to Kansas City. Homefront IPA is a collaborative beer developed by Fremont Brewing and Center of the Universe Brewing in order to raise money and awareness for Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront is a charity that provides emergency assistance to our military heroes and their families. As if that wasn't patriotic enough, Homefront IPA is actually aged on unfinished Louisville Slugger maple baseball bats. All proceeds from the sale of this beer go to local Operation Homefront chapters.

Homefront IPA is the brainchild of former MLB pitcher Chris Ray, who is also the co-founder of Center of the Universe Brewing Co. in Ashland, Virginia. Looking for a way to give back to the community, Chris and his brother Phil developed the idea in 2011. Now in its third year, 9 different breweries will make Homefront IPA using the same recipe and with all the proceeds going to Operation Homefront. In addition to the original brewers, Perennial, Left Hand, Stone, Cigar City, Sly Fox, 21st Amendment, and Phoenix Ale Brewery will also be making batches.

Perennial Artisan Ales will not be bottling Homefront this year, but they will be sending kegs to Kansas City. Perennial will tap the first keg of Homefront in Kansas City at Grinders tomorrow night at 5pm with more kegs on their way soon. I have not heard if we will be getting the Stone or Left Hand versions.
