KC BeerFest

Chimpo has a nice roundup of the KC Beerfest Saturday at the Legends. I'm surprised Boulevard was out there with a keg of Saison-Brett. I'm less surprised they kegged up the Big Stout.

  1. Hey Bull - I had some of that new Saison the other night and it was pretty good stuff. I'd love to drink more of it, but it was almost double the price of the other Smokestacks at the particular joint I went to. I guess I should have made it down to KC Beerfest to get some on tap. Is it on tap anywhere else around town?

Anyway, have you found the bottles at reasonable prices? I recall you had a "post your best prices for smokestack beer" thread when they first came out, but now I can't find it. Maybe I'll start working the phones and see what I can dig up.

  2. KC Guy, Saison-Brett going to retail about $11.50 - $14 around town. It's more expensive than other Smokestacks because they're brewing less of it, it's much more complicated to brew and I believe the Brett may be a little expensive. Boulevard didn't mean for it to retail at the same price point of the other Smokestack beers.

The BBQ will also be at a similar price point. If you want to save a buck though, you may want to go to Batson's in Mission on Monday nights because big beers are 10% off.

Saison-Brett isn't an everyday beer, I would treat it like a special occasion beer. I'm probably not going to open another one until maybe election night or maybe not until Thanksgiving. In the meantime, I'm going to buy one or two every week so I'm well stocked at all times.
