Parkville's Power Plant Brewery

If you haven't been to Parkville, MO, just a short ten or 15-minute drive north of downtown KC, then you need to gas up the Land Cruiser and head out. The food is great--my favorite is the Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad, which goes well with their Steamboat Stout. Actually it goes pretty well with the Nut Brown and the Pale Ale, and the... Ok, you get the picture.

The town is pretty charming, too!!! The brewery sits right next to a high-speed railroad track where the trains roar past the building while you eat. The thundering of the passing trains makes the building practically shake off its foundation! Quite the experience!

You will enjoy the quiet atmosphere of this 1880's-era riverfront town. It has great architecture, and some authentic old-time charm. The local college,
Park University was founded in 1875 as an independent, liberal arts, four-year coeducational, residential Christian institution. Today it is an independent, private institution, accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. (http://www.park.edu/about/)

Anyhow, GO TO THE BREWERY! The beer is the best around. You WILL LOVE IT. And if you don't, I didn't send you...

  1. The Power Plant has always disappointed me, which is unfortunate, since it's so close to my in-laws' house in Weatherby Lake. I've usually found their beer unspectacular, at best, although I seem to remember a good IPA when I was there this summer — by far the best thing I've had there.

  2. On a nice weekend they have live music on the deck and thier Brown is a perfect session beer. A new seasonal every month keeps it interesting and it rarely if ever misses. Even beer styles that I don't like in general, I like here.
    GOOD STUFF!
