Goose Island Event @ Waldo Pizza Tonight

Tonight at 5pm, Waldo Pizza is having a Goose Island event. It's hard to call it a tap takeover, because it's much more than that. It's almost difficult to write this because I've kept Waldo Pizza as a little beer secret of mine for quite some time, people don't always believe me when I say they're one of the best places in town to get a beer. Look at this event, and you'll understand why I say that.

While they'll be tapping this year's Bourbon County Brand Stout today, there's a lot more going on. Topping out that list is a brand new beer, Ten Hills Pale Ale. This beer was brewed solely with hops from Elk Mountain Farms in Idaho. They've lucked out and will be the first bar in the world to have this beer on tap, including Chicago were they're not tapping it until Thursday. This is what the tap list will look like...

On Tap:

  • Ten Hills Pale Ale
  • Lolita
  • Matilda
  • Matilda Lambicus
  • Sofie
  • Sofie Paradisi
  • The Illinois
  • Bourbon County Brand Stout

Waldo Pizza also has an excellent cellar program, and they'll be pulling out all the stops tomorrow. They'll have gift packs of Bourbon County Brand Stout that'll include a 12 oz bottle from '11, '12, and '13. It's worth mentioning that all bottles bought from the restaurant can be carried out with you, just make sure to tell the bartender not to pop open your bottle.  They'll also have the following:

Bottles:
  • Bourbon County Rare '10 (2 bottles)
  • Bourbon County Vanilla '11 (1 bottle)
  • Bourbon County Bramble Rye '11 (1 bottle)
  • Christmas '09 (~5 bottles)
  • Halia '13
  • Lolita '13
  • Gillian '13
  • Juliet '12 & '13
Yes. You read that correctly. They'll have 2 bottles of  BCS Rare - the variant of BCS that was aged in Pappy Van Winkle barrels. One of the bottles will be raffled off with the winner being announced later in the month of December - so even if you can't make it up tonight you can still drop your name in the hat, as many times as you like. All proceeds from the sale of that bottle will go directly to Harvesters, great stuff.

This is going to be a great night, I'll see you down there. I'll be the one eating and entire potato and jalapeno bacon pizza by myself, I'd advise you to not talk to me until I'm done eating.

Update: For the Bourbon County Variants there will be a raffle. Starting at 5pm each person can get a ticket and they'll start calling numbers around 8pm. Winners get the chance to buy one of those Bourbon County cellar bottles. Tickets will be free.
