Kansas City Craft Beer Week

Can it be? Another Craft Beer Week? It's true--Kansas City Craft Beer Week is next week! (Not to be confused with Kansas Craft Beer Week or American Craft Beer Week in Kansas City.) We're being blessed this year with another inaugural craft beer week in KC. I'm not one to complain either--I'm always game for more excuses to go out and drink great beer on a weeknight. As per typical, there are a ton of exciting events planned for the week, with lots of tap takeovers, tastings, and beer dinners. Thankfully for my own sanity, KC Craft Beer Week is a bit more organized than American Craft Beer Week, and those organizing the week have put their own schedule of events together already.

I know you need another Craft Beer Week in your life.
The obvious highlights are the two festivals framing the week: Westport Beer Festival and Boulevardia. Westport Beer Fest kicks off at 5p on Saturday night, and costs $30 in advance or $35 at the gate. There are still tickets available as of posting this. On the flip side, as I'm sure you're aware, the Boulevardia Taps & Tastes tickets are already sold out (unless you want to pay some scalper $150). Regardless, I think both of the festivals are going to be great, and both have great brewery lineups. I put together a list of the breweries attending each festival at the bottom of this post, and Kyle posted the entire beer lineup for the Westport Beer Fest earlier. Yours truly will be pouring Green Room beer at Boulevardia--stop by and say hi!

Other highlights of the week include the Crooked Stave Brewery Night on Wednesday and the Deschutes The Abyss Vertical Night on Thursday, both at the Flying Saucer. Brewers Nick Mader from Crooked Stave and Brian Faivre from Deschutes will be at the events, giving you a great chance to learn more about the brews than you can just tasting them. There's also a Sierra Nevada Ovila beer dinner planned at Julian on Thursday which I'm sure will be amazing. In addition to the brewers from Crooked Stave and Deschutes, Will Meyers from Cambridge Brewing will be at Beer Kitchen on Wednesday and Doug Odell, founder of Odells, will be at the Foundry on Friday to showcase their beers. And you even have another chance to get some Founder's KBS if you've missed out--Waldo Pizza is tapping a keg of it on Tuesday!

Happy drinking!
