Weekly Bar Buzz

Well, its time to put Chocolate Ale Day, the Bud Light Platinum release, the MU/KU death match and the Superbowl behind us and move on with our lives. What a crazy week that was. Looking back, last week was probably the slowest week from a content perspective since Pat and I started posting regularly. Sorry for not posting more. I think Pat and I were too distracted by the insane traffic this blog got last week. Pat's Chocolate Ale Tapping List generated 100 comments and became a sounding board for Chocolate Ale opinions. I love that this blog can be home to such debate and want to thank all who take part. With all the criticism surrounding beer geeks last week and the talk of hyped beer, it was pretty awesome to read the comments on posts like this.

On another note, we have received feedback from some of you regarding our posting about rare beers. You want to hear more about when seasonals and rare beers are coming to town and honestly, we want to write more about them. I know Pat and I have some work to do on this. We are are doing the best we can, but the fact is we are not as plugged in as Bull was. But we will do a better job. In the meantime, if you would like to share info about beers please don't hesitate to post in the comments section.

There are a few upcoming beer releases to watch out for. I still have not heard anything about when Hopslam bottles are coming to town (has anyone else?), but kegs are still going strong. I enjoyed some on tap at the Flying Saucer on Friday night. 750mL bottles of Curmudgeon’s Better Half, the next beer in Founders Backstage Series are scheduled to enter Founders distribution network next Monday. Not sure when they will arrive on KC shelves, but it sounds like it could be soon. Also, has anyone heard anything about Goose Island Bramble Rye? I know that beer is limited as hell, but has anybody heard if KC is getting any?

Finally, there are some really cool events on the calender for February including a beer vs. wine dinner at Beer Kitchen and a huge Avery event at All Star Pizza. Check them out below:
