Questions for Breweries

Matthew
Strange Days Brewery

What is Unique about your brewery? We have a wide variety of beers and we see ourselves as a destination for soccer games by having hours that accommodate soccer fans around town.

What 2 pints would you recommend? Sir Real Real (Imperial/Double IPA) & Sonny Delight (Imperial New England IPA)

What inspired you or continues to inspire you? Just a couple of guys brewing and we came across some good stuff and did well in some competitions. Just enjoying the brewing of good beer and drawing from the inspirations of the global cuisine.

What does the future hold? Lots of new beer and a 5K on September 20th that gets you $1 of all beer for running.

Kyle
Casual Animal Brewery

What is Unique about your brewery? We released 36 beers in just 7 months. We make sessional beers.

What 2 pints would you recommend? Acrospire Pale Ale (Pale Ale with local hops and served on nitro) & Hop the Fence (India Pale Lager with New Zealand hops)

What inspired you or continues to inspire you? Started working at Free State Brewery and have continued to collaborate with other brewers.

Matt
Martin City Brewery

What is Unique about your brewery? Strive to make the best beers that are drinkable and available. We are a DIY brewery and every owner is involved in the process of making beer that they enjoy.

What 2 pints would you recommend? Hard Way IPA (American IPA) & Righteous Candor (New England IPA)

What inspired you or continues to inspire you? Making and trying new beer. We are continually influenced by our competitors.

What does the future hold? We just opened a second location in Mission Farms and that is something we are excited about.  Righteous Candor will also be released in cans.

Michael
Crane Brewery

What is Unique about your brewery? The way we sour our beers make us unique. Our cultures are placed in the fermenter instead of kettle souring. This gives our beers a more complex flavor that can change over time.

What 2 pints would you recommend? Beet Weiss (Sour Berliner Weisse) & Raytown Common (California Common)

What inspired you or continues to inspire you? We are known for sour beers but we also enjoy exploring new styles. Our Raytown Common is a simple lager made with simple ingredients as a beer that can be enjoyed by many.

What does the future hold? We are shifting away from the 750ml bottles and releasing some of our specialty beers in 375ml bottles. This goes for the Beet Weiss that was just released.

Rafi
Torn Label Brewery

What is Unique about your brewery? The cofounders involved in starting the brewery grew up in KC but lived elsewhere. We each brought back our experiences from different parts of the country and the world to create beers we enjoy.

What 2 pints would you recommend? Alpha Pale (American Pale Ale) & Funky Monk (American Wild Ale)

What inspired you or continues to inspire you? Collaboration with artists in our community.

What does the future hold? Flog Machine is a New England style IPA that we will be releasing in cans.

Alex and Brian
Double Shift

What is Unique about your brewery? We enjoy brewing strange but approachable beers.

What 2 pints would you recommend? Literally Can't Even (Belgian Strong brewed with Graham Crackers) & Monster Tribe (Brute IPA)

What inspired you or continues to inspire you? We draw our inspiration from culinary surroundings and local producers.  We look for local ingredients and work with as many local producers as possible.

What does the future hold? Barrel Aged Literally Can't Even Release Party November 25th.
