Short Pours - Week of 3/9/15
This week is shaping up to be another busy week in
Kansas City. Warmer weather,
basketball and of course plenty of beer events to look forward to. Let’s get right into it with this
week’s Short Pours.
Beers and Best Friends benefit for Wayside Waifs – Westport Ale House
On Monday March 9th at 6:00 PM, Westport Ale House will be hosting Beer
& Best Friends. To celebrate
the event, Westport Ale House will be tapping a keg of Boulevard Imperial Stout
and Tasting Room Red IPA. The
price of admission is $2 and in return you will receive one raffle ticket. You’ll also have the opportunity to
purchase additional raffle tickets for $1 each. Why would you want to purchase additional raffle tickets you
ask? Well all the proceeds from
the raffle tickets will benefit Wayside Waifs so it is going
to a great cause. In addition to
that, you’ll have the chance to win some pretty cool prizes including bottles of
Boulevard Crown Town Ale, Chocolate Ale and Imperial Stout X - Coffee, Westport
Ale House gifts cards and two tickets to the 4 Hands Brewery Lupulin
Carnival.
Sierra Nevada Spiegelau IPA Glass Night – The Foundry
Sierra Nevada
knows how to brew some world-class beer.
They also know the importance of using proper glassware when enjoying
one of their world-class beers.
The right type of glass can improve a beers appearance, aroma and
taste. The Foundry understands this as well and has
teamed up with Sierra Nevada to throw an event that will have you walking out
that night with a new glass that was specifically designed to enhance all the
qualities of an IPA. On Tuesday
March 10th at 7:00 PM, The Foundry in Westport will be offering flights
that include 5 different IPAs from Sierra Nevada and a Spiegelau IPA glass for
$20. The IPAs included in the
flight are Hop Hunter IPA, Torpedo Extra IPA, Harvest Series Idaho
7 (1st keg in KC & new
experimental single hop beer) along with Golden IPA and Blindfold Black IPA,
which are only available in the 4-Way IPA Variety Pack. Brian DeBold with Sierra Nevada will
also be on hand that night to answer any questions you have regarding the beers
or the glass.

Lagunitas High West-ified Imperial Coffee Stout tapping – Bier Station
Lagunitas
Brewing Company wants to try and help you take the edge off this Wednesday March
11th. In order to do
so, they’ve sent a special keg of their High West-ified Imperial Coffee Stout
to Bier Station for Lagunitas One Hitter Night. This will be the first tapping in Kansas City of this beer
that was brewed with a Mexican coffee base that is blended with Sumatra, Guatemala and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Natural then
finished with an Italian roast to bring out the oils and a dark flavor. The beer was then aged in High West’s
Double Rye and American Prairie Bourbon barrels. This beer will be tapped at 4:20pm and will be joined by
other Lagunitas favorites including Hop Stoopid, IPA, and Pilsner. Lagunitas will also be providing complimentary
munchies for the evening.
