Martin City Pizza & Taps Grand Opening - February 12th

This week is crazy. Not only is KC Bier Company opening their doors for the first time, but Martin City Brewing Company is finally giving truth to their name as well! They've been open as a pub since the summer of 2011, where they've served up some of the best mac n' cheese I've ever had (and I don't say that lightly) as well as full lunch and dinner menu. Their pub also has one of the best set of tap handles in town - so if you've never made it out, I highly recommend it.

Come tomorrow, they will officially be pouring some of their own beer. It's a little tricky though - the brewery is opening in a separate building just across from the pub and will be called "Martin City Pizza & Tap" - and it will be the only place as of now you can try their beers. Just to be clear, you can't go to the pub and have their beers, you have to go to the Pizza & Tap. Blame liquor laws.

They've got a stone oven for pizza making and they plan to have six beers pouring when they open their doors officially on Wednesday - Witbier, ESB, Porter, Black Saison, IPA, and a Belgian-Style Dark. There is a 15 bbl system in place, enough to keep the beer flowing on-premise and hopefully soon sent out to area establishments. It'll be a good day when you can find a bar in town that serves up beers from Boulevard, Cinder Block, Kansas City Bier Company, and Martin City Brewing all on the same wall.

Exciting things are happening in Kansas City, be sure to go out there and support these new breweries if you like this trend.

Martin City Pizza & Tap officially opens at 11am on February 12th @ 410 E 135th St - rumor has it that some of the KCBeerBlog writers will be around for lunch beers, so come say hi, but just don't tell our boss.
