Short Pours - 12/17/13

McCoy's Ursa Major 2013 Release

Tonight at 4:00pm McCoy's will be tapping this year's Ursa Major Imperial Stout as well as kegs from 2012 and 2011 to sample side by side. This year's Ursa Major was aged in Dark Horse Distillery bourbon and rye barrels. Pours will be $10 and come with a commemorative glass. Bottles will also be available for $14 - but they're sure to go fast since they'll br holding such a historically fantastic beer.

Heard From the Hop Vine

Oskar Blues is just a state away in Colorado (give or take state line) and now they've opened anotherbrewery in Asheville, NC as well - so essentially KS/MO has become this beer-desert of Oskar Blues. I don't know what they have against us. Dale's Pale Ale and TenFidy are a couple of my favorite beers - and I could write a love letter to Deviant Dale's but I'll save you that.

Rumor has traveled around town that the drought may be coming to an end. There have been reports of the Oskar Blues team visiting Kansas City and Lawrence last week - potentially scoping out the market. It might not be anything, or it may mean that in a few months time we could be seeing their cans on shelves in Kansas and/or Missouri. We'll let you know if we hear anything.
